Cheery News of the Day From Your IRS Commissioner
Posted by Nancy on April 5, 2010
Congressman Anthony Weiner told Bill O’Reilly the IRS would not enforce citizen payment of healthcare insurance premiums under Obamacare. In fact, he said it over, and over, and over….
Ah, but IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman didn’t say it. In fact, here is what he has to say about the issue.
Individuals who don’t purchase health insurance may lose their tax refunds according to IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman. After acknowledging the recently passed health-care bill limits the agency’s options for enforcing the individual mandate, Shulman told reporters that the most likely way to penalize individuals that don’t comply is by reducing or confiscating their tax refunds.
Here’s the O’Reilly/Weiner clip. Straightforward question, starting around 2:10, that never gets answered.

Government Math and Government Healthcare
Posted by Nancy on March 17, 2010
I wonder if Texas managed to include this in their recently-voted-upon curriculum?
Teach the children well. Facts, truth, honesty, integrity, responsibility, diligence, hard work, compassion – those things that jointly put the veneer of civilization on otherwise savage Man.
But what are our children learning from their surroundings now? That everything they do is wonderful? That everyone gets a trophy? That everyone “deserves” whatever they want? That it is the government’s responsibilty to give them what they want? That the end justifies the means? That Congress can shred the Constitution in pursuit of raw power?
Teach the children well, or they will live in a country very different from the one we grew up in.

Healthcare We Can All Believe In – Or Not
Posted by Nancy on February 11, 2010
Looks like we’ll get Democratic Healthcare reform after all, like it or not.
Nancy Pelosi’s top healthcare aide, Wendell Primus, is quoted in Congress Daily as saying the administration has already settled on a strategy to get the Senate version of the bill through without any opportunity for the Republicans to filibuster it. It involves reconciliation, and Primus refers to it as “a trick.”
The House will approve the Senate bill, Obama will sign it, then the House and Senate will both pass amendments to the bill that will supercede the Senate version once it is passed and Obama signs it.
And you thought we had a representative form of government in the United States.
Conservative columnist Connie Hair noted Primus’ remarks and called the reconciliation strategy and the White House health care summit two big “rope-a-dope” plays that are “just another in a long charade of dog and pony shows.”
Hair says “the end game has already been decided behind closed doors by Democrats who have no intention of letting this opportunity for cradle to grave control over the American people slip away when it’s so close.” http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=35574
So the important question here is, if the Democrats have already worked out what they are going to do and how, why is Obama calling for a healthcare summit with Republicans?
The most logical answer would seem to be that the summit is part and parcel of a White House/congressional Democratic strategy to distract attention from what is about to happen on the Hill. It’s the classic magician’s trick of distracting you with the left hand while the right hand does the “trick.”
