Keeping Us Safe From – Republicans, of Course

Posted by Nancy on December 31, 2009

The Obama administration, ever vigilant about homeland security and our safety, is in “full defensive spin mode” after near catastrophe by the Underwear Bomber.

And what are they defending us from?  Why, Republican electoral wins, of course.  Read the whole article here.

On December 26…senior Obama White House aides, including chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and new White House counsel Robert Bauer, ordered staff to begin researching similar breakdowns — if any — from the Bush Administration.

“The idea was that we’d show that the Bush Administration had had far worse missteps than we ever could,” says a staffer in the counsel’s office. “We were told that classified material involving anything related to al Qaeda operating in Yemen or Nigeria was fair game and that we’d declassify it if necessary.”

They’re trying to find a flaw to – what?  Claim two wrongs make a right?  That will undoubtedly impress al-Qaeda and keep them from trying to blow us up in the future.  And don’t you just love the idea of rooting through classified material for the sole purpose of political gain – at the expense of homeland security?

Other administration sources also say a flurry of memos were generated on December 26th, 27th, and 28th, which developed talking points about how Obama’s decision to effectively shut down the Homeland Security Council… had nothing to do with what Obama called a “catastrophic” failure on Christmas Day.

Are you feeling safer now?  Why, Obama’s actions have no consequences!  But it keeps getting worse, and really scary, as their incompetence becomes ever more obvious.

“This White House doesn’t view the Northwest [Airlines] failure as one of national security, it’s a political issue,” says the White House source. “That’s why Axelrod and Emanuel are driving the issue.”

Axelrod, who has no foreign policy or national security experience beyond occasionally consulting with liberal or progressive candidates running for political office in foreign countries, has been actively participating in national security briefings from the beginning of the administration. He has also sat in on Obama’s “war council” meetings, providing Obama with suggestions in both venues based on what he knows about polling and public opinion data, say several White House sources.

Say it isn’t so.  Decisions on international politics and our safety are made based on public opinion data instead of information from defense experts?  I don’t know about you, but I am shocked, shocked! to learn this.

Obama Advisors Not Newsworthy -At Least Not When They Are Being Subpoenaed

Posted by Nancy on January 27, 2009

Illinois Governor Blagojevich’s office released a list of subpoenas relating to his scurrilous practices this past Saturday .

Lo and behold!  After loud denials that any of Obama’s advisors were among that august group it turns out we have been misled (again).  David Axelrod, Obama’s Karl Rove, is in there, as is Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Valerie Jarrett.  Obama’s good friend and financier Tony Rezko made the A-list too.

This was reported in the Chicago Sun-Times and on Fox News on Saturday, the Quad City Times on Sunday, then the Chicago NBC affiliate on Monday.  And that seems to be it; two local papers, the local news, and a quasi conservative TV channel.  I keep looking for mention of it in my local paper, or on the national news.

Nothing.

Where is the New York Times?  The Washington Post?  CNN?  All the major networks, the AP, McClatchey?  Would they wilfully refuse to report news of such portent?  Or under report it?

Isn’t this worthy of not only mention, but thorough investigation?  Have they no sense of responsibility to the public, only to Obama?

A Google search shows this story is being covered by bloggers and just about no one else.

A veritable “who’s who” of Obama staffers, surrogates and affiliates were among those whose communications with Blago were served with subpoenas. Put simply, within one week of President Barack Obama’s administration taking office, it is already under significant legal scrutiny that will — at a minimum — take precious time away from dealing with the country’s monumental economic and foreign policy challenges.  Director Blue

And the most ironic part of thiestory?  The subpoenas only came to light because of a two year battle and freedom of information requests from the Better Government Association, an organization established in 1923 by a group of citizens trying to fight the growing influence of the corrupt Al Capone gang.

Think about it.  If this had been George Bush’s Karl Rove receiving a subpoena wouldn it be all over every news outlet in the country, repeatedly and loudly?  And that Al Capone connection – they would fall all over themselves drawing comparisons between the corrupt Chicagoan of the 1920′s and the Bush administration.

But this isn’t Karl Rove, it’s David Axelrod.  And Rahm Emanuel, and Valerie Jarrett, and Tony Rezko, and other friends of Obama.

How about some comparisons between the corrupt Chicagoans of that era with the current batch?

Rahm Emanuel: Don’t Waste A ‘Serious Crisis’

Posted by necessarygrace on November 21, 2008

Rahm Emanuel, President-Elect Obama’s appointed Chief of Staff and Mouthpiece To The Press shared their plans for the Obama Presidency.

You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

And by a completely unrelated coincidence, I happened to find this article about the German Interior Minister’s views on politics during times of crisis.

“We learned from the worldwide economic crisis of the 1920s (1930s) that an economic crisis can result in an incredible threat for all of society. The consequences of that depression was Adolf Hitler and, indirectly, World War II and Auschwitz,”
