Warm My Globe, Don’t Limit My Carbon

Posted by Nancy on May 12, 2009

Verifying what our heavier-than-normal jackets have been telling us, April was chillier than average.  According to the government’s National Climatic Data Center the month was almost a full degree below normal when averaged across the U.S. and compared to records going back to 1895.

To put a little perspective on these figures, carbon dioxide emissions continue to increase as the world industrializes and China puts one new coal-fired power plant on line every week, yet there has been no global warming since 1997 or 1998.  In fact, temperatures have fallen enough during the past several years to erase the warming trend of the previous decades.  Is carbon dioxide really a climate driver?

More perspective would have us look to the sun, which continues its sunspot slumber.  Some scientists are now saying this failure of sunspot cycle’s 24 start, which should have happened by 2007, is beginning to echo the Maunder Minimum of about 1645 to 1715.  Causation can be argued, but that period of almost non-existent sunspot activity coincided with the Little Ice Age, a period of extremely bitter winters in the northern hemisphere that affected Earth’s weather for hundreds of years.  There has been a gradual rise in sea levels since it ended, as ice from it still continues to melt.

Add to that the current Sea Ice Extent figures showing the largest mass of sea ice in eight years (the period covered by the graph), and a recent fly-over survey that indicates the Arctic ice is twice the thickness expected, and you find you have no need to worry about those adorable polar bears drowning.

By the way, the above photo was taken by a Canadian photographer, Carole Williams, in 2004.

“[You] have to keep in mind that the bears aren’t in danger at all. It was, if you will, their playground for 15 minutes. You know what I mean? This is a perfect picture for climate change, in a way, because you have the impression they are in the middle of the ocean and they are going to die with a coke in their hands. But they were not that far from the coast, and it was possible for them to swim.”

Polar bears can swim up to 30 miles.

Williams took the picture as an example of wind-sculpted ice, but it was subsequently lifted and used by global warming enthusiasts, including Al Gore.  Canada has very strict copyright laws, and apparently a lawsuit is in the works.

Do you ever wonder why the mainstream media does not report information like that above, even just to get a little dialogue going?  Do you ever wonder why our political leaders are trying to cram carbon emission limits down our collective throats, while admitting they will raise the average person’s heating and transportation costs by thousands of dollars per year?

Carbon dioxide, the naturally occuring compound that is a foundation of all of life’s plant and animal interactions.  What next – controlling oxygen?

One last thought, only becuase it is so funny.  Domino now claims their sugar is “carbon free.”  Anything that is living or has ever lived contains carbon, including plant-based sugar.  In fact, its chemical formula is C12H22O11.  If it is truly carbon free, then it must be H22O11, which when reduced down gives you H2O.  It’s now water?  And traveling through West Viriginia one sees billboards for “carbon neutral coal.”   Coal, that is more than 90% carbon, with some oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur thrown in.  Carbon neutral?

We need to teach more science and logic in our schools to reduce the gullibility index.

I wish people would just listen. I’m so mad that people don’t even care about the polar bears and that the sea level is rising. And also that the plants are dead because of us. If we don’t do something about it then we all are going to die with them. I just wish there was a way to stop the global warming.

Um, I don’t know where you live Natalia, but the weather all across the U.S. is setting records for October cold and snowfall. What global warming? If you really care, read the science on places like Manmade global warming is the biggest fraud ever and the “science” behind it is unraveling through dogged determinations of real scientists.

The earth isn’t melting, the seas aren’t rising any more than normal since the end of the Little Ice Age, and the polar bears are thriving. If the plants are dead, it’s from early frosts. Educate yourself with real science.

So why doesn’t anyone read the story? Everyone just reads the caption or the headlines and assume they know the “rest of the story”. Read the article/story…THEY ARE NOT DROWNING!

holly is right….the only way we’ll see the polar bears in the future is in the zoo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are the posters above completely retarded?

As the global warming hoax continues to implode, it is amazing how many are oblivious to the unfolding evidence. Open your windows and pay attention to the weather, and open your eyes and pay attention to the truth. Climate is always in flux, and the world has been much warmer in the past. As always, follow the money – who benefits from pulling off this scam? It sure won’t be the average citizen.

I wonder whether you changed your mind after this summer or do you still think that repeating lies and talking about things you have not got the slightest knowledge of sets a good example for your children. Rather than getting upset about doughnuts in schools, you ought to examine your own very low ethical and educational standards. What are your qualifications for discussing climate science, I’d like to know. And what scientists are you talking about? I’d like names and links, please. I am working in the field, and I don’t know a single serious scientist making the claims that you are making in this post. And as for cramming carbon emissions down your throat, just tell me please where is this happening? Despite the fact that your children will face food and water shortages, collapsing eco systems, and temperatures that make life impossible, complete know nothings like yourself, dumb sheep following Fox News and the Rush Limbaughs of this world have actually had a veritable impact on the policy of this country to the detriment of people across the world. What are you going to tell your children when it’s time to hand over the torch? Oops, kids, I was wrong after all? Or, god wanted it that way? I hope that your kids will know you for what you are when the time comes, as someone who stood steadfastly in the way of knowledge and truth, in the way of ensuring that humanity survives, in the way of science, and civilization, in the way of ethics and morality despite overwhelming evidence of climate change.
